Farnborough, 26 September 2016 – QinetiQ’s data security company Boldon James, a leading specialist provider of data classification and secure messaging solutions, has announced the launch of Classifier 3.9. This latest release extends the class-leading Classifier product suite to offer advanced support for the Classifier360 approach; providing a customer-centric and best-of-breed blend of user-driven and automated classification techniques. Compliance with the forthcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is also a key focus for the new Classifier release, through simplified and persistent classification tracking which is now available downstream once data leaves the organisation’s boundaries.
Commenting on the importance of taking the right approach to data classification, Forrester analysts John Kindervag and Heidi Shey wrote in the report The Rethinking Data Discovery and Data Classification Strategies (March 2016) “Dynamic data classification requires the integration of both manual processes involving employees as well as tools for automation and enforcement. Human intervention provides much-needed context for data classification, while tools enable efficiency and policy enforcement”.
The features available in Classifier 3.9 expand contextual and content-based awareness to deliver more granular classification handling rules and offer new ways to assist users in their classification choices. It also allows organisations the ability to meet the emerging needs to demonstrate and report on compliance position, particular important in relation to the EU GDPR due to come into force in May 2018. In summary, Classifier 3.9 adds the following key features:
Commenting on the launch, Martin Sugden, CEO at Boldon James, said “Our customers are demanding more specialised and granular classification support for a variety of applications, as well as best-of-breed integration with leading, complementary technology providers in areas such as DLP, Discovery and Behavioural Analytics. This new version of Classifier successfully delivers that capability, and the enhancements reinforce Boldon James’ position as the leading specialist data classification solution provider to organisations with complex and demanding data protection environments”.
